Located
in the East of ¡®kalsan¡¯, there are 621 names of Korean
War soldiers on the right side of the Korean War monument
in Yangpyeong. Imprinted on the left side is the statement,
¡°May guide us to the prosperous future generation after
generation as we set up a monument of patriots come
from Yangpyeong during the War¡±.
Old House
of Jeongsik Kim
_ Yangpyeong-Eup Changdaeri
Called
the ¡®Changdaeri Goga¡¯ in Korean, this 200 year old
house faces the southeast, framed by a small hill and
trees, and overlooking farmland. Changdaeri Goga is
especially unique, architecturally, due to a number
of rooms on the main floor that were built on right
angles. The side of the roof is beautiful, as well,
with tiered tiles.
Loyal subject
Heejin Ryu Fidelity Gate
_ Yangpyeong-. Eup Hoihyeonri,
County Relics No.3
The
¡°Fidelity Gate¡± belongs to the family of Munwha Ryu
in Gaso village. Mr. Rye is the 18th descendant of
Munwha Ryu dynasty. When Japan invaded Korea in 1592,
he was a judge in Hamheung city. Unfortunately, he
was captured by Japanese troops and interrogated for
the location of the King at that time. Nevertheless,
despite harsh and painful torture, Rye did not compromise
his loyalty to the King, opting for suicide, instead.
After these events, Rye was hailed as a national hero
and today, the newly renovated gate is considered a
representation of Rye¡¯s superior integrity.
